Oct 19, 2009 - The Fourth Ittihad Forum 2009 was launched today under the title "The Arabic press ... reality and ambition". It will last for 2 days and will be held at the “Emirates Palace” hotel in Abu Dhabi.

The forum will highlight the future of the publishing industry in the Arab world in light of the economic, technical and professional updates.

More than 100 journalists and a large number of writers, researchers and experts in the publishing industry will participate in the forum, seeking to study how to employ the new technologies and how to open new markets for this industry especially in the specified publishing fields.

Dr. Ali Al Assam, CEO of KnowledgeView, will moderate the third session, and will talk on the importance of using new technologies and how to benefit from the digital boom in the editorial process, in order to keep the link between the readers and the newspaper and to remove obstacles between the editorial and the production departments.

Dr. Assam will also emphasis the importance of taking into consideration the particular needs of the readers, since we are living in a world were the information is needed minute by minute.

“The reader is no longer just a recipient of news, he can participate in editing it and publishing it also” he said.
